What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this is if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

My mum had this poem hanging on our living room wall when i was a child. Every now and again i think of it and recite it to myself. There are times when i feel as if life is passing me by, times when i feel that i am not making the most of my life or enjoying it.
At the moment i feel like a proper Wednesday's child, full of woe and all.
Here's to hoping for better weather so i can stand and stare.

  1. Hope you get some good weather so that you and Master T can enjoy some time together during the holidays. x

  2. That poem is gorgeous! I know the feeling of blue! I have been feeling gloomy this weekend despite wonderful moments in between!
